UBI is a non-solution to a non-problem — automation of jobs has been happening since the dawn of time. Jobs are not fixed, we have not been dividing up the same number of jobs since the Stone Age. New technology makes old jobs obsolete and creates new jobs. It is impossible to know what the new jobs will be
Problems with UBI:
We are nowhere near general AI, most AI is pattern recognition. How can you simulate intelligence when you don’t even know how the brain works? Nature is parsimonious, there are calculations going on inside of the cells. Thinking we can replicate a brain at the neuron level by having an on/off switch is overly simplistic.
